Logistics Engineering and Management

I have used this text in practice and in courses for a number of years. It is a very sound reference and it is easy to comprehend. Prof Blanchard's approach is excellent: based upon systems concepts and a lifecycle orientation. The content is very organized and methodical. The strengths are the system engineering process, the supportability analysis, and the bibliography. A very disciplined method for the system engineering process is presented. The elaboration on functional analysis and allocation is superb. All of the tools presented under the supportability analysis are relevant and very usable. In particular the emphasis and examples of life cycle cost analysis are excellent. The appendices provide practical and up to date data and information for the practicing logistician. Excellent reference for preparation for the Certified Professional Logistician examination.

Professor Dostal has assembled a useful collection of essays for this volume. The best contributions are by Jean Grondin (shrewd and astute, as always) and Fred Lawrence and someone named Gunter Figal.
Unfortunately, Richard J. Bernstein's piece on Gadamer/Habermas/Derrida is a bit thin, while J.M. Baker Jr.'s essay on lyric poetry seems endless.
Professor Dostal's essay on Gadamer and Heidegger (always a thorny subject) is especially good.
Recommended.

About the Author

Dr. Paula Lentz is an associate professor and academic program director in the Department of Business Communication at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire. She teaches Business Writing and Advanced Business Writing and develops and teaches online communication courses for the University of Wisconsin MBA Consortium program.

Dr. Lentz is particularly interested in qualitative research that explores narratives and organizational cultures, genre theory, and writing a pedagogy in online environments. She has developed numerous online courses and online materials for hybrid and flipped classrooms. In addition, she has published and presented frequently on topics of rhetoric in business communication and continues to do freelance writing, editing, and consulting. Dr. Lentz's professional activities include involvement in the Association for Business Communication, where she chairs the Academic Environment Committee. She received a BA from Coe College, an MA from UW-Eau Claire, and  PhD in Rhetoric and Scientific and Technical Communication from the University of Minnesota.

Associate Professor in the English Department at the University of Cincinnati. She taught her first business writing class as a doctoral student at the University of Illinois in the early 1980s and has been teaching workplace writing ever since. She helped establish the University of Cincinnati’s professional writing program and has served as its coordinator. She has also won the English Department’s teaching award, directed the department’s graduate program, and helped direct the composition program. Dr. Rentz’s affiliation with the Association for Business Communication goes back to her beginnings as a business writing teacher. Dr. Rentz was named the 2008 winner of the Association for Business Communication's (ABC’s) Outstanding Teacher Award. In addition, an article she co-authored in 2007 just won the association’s award for Outstanding Article in the Journal of Business Communication. She has performed many roles for the association, including serving on the board of directors, organizing a conference, and chairing the publications board. She served two terms as an Associate Editor of the Journal of Business Communication and was Interim Editor from 2000–2001, for which she won the Francis W. Weeks Award of Merit. Dr. Rentz has published articles and commentary on pedagogy, genre theory, narrative, and ethics in such journals as Business Communication Quarterly, the Journal of Business Communication, Technical Communication Quarterly, and the Journal of Business and Technical Communication. She has participated in many professional meetings and seminars over the years and is always learning from her colleagues and her students.

LOVED IT

WOW!!!! JUST WOW!!!!! I LOVE, LOVE, LOVED this book. It has been on my TBR forever, and I finally stopped everything else to read it. and WOW I don't know why it took me so long to read this. Once I started I was hooked.

Lucien and Darcy's story was just amazing. I couldn't have asked for anything better. There was so much that was happening in this story and things connecting that I had no idea had to do with the other thing.

Lucien's and Darcy's life was robbed from them. Who knows what could have been if it wasn't for that man that came into their lives to keep them apart. I was absolutely enthralled in this story. The entire time, I did not want to put it down. My Friend who had already read this book and suggested that I read this series, was constantly getting bothered. I texted her ALL DAY. What is happening? What the? Who is? NO WAY? Is that? I wanted her to tell me what was happening cause the suspense was killer, but at the same time, I didn't want her to tell me. of course she didn't, and my mind was running rapid for what was to come.

I love a good romance book, and I love a good mystery book. THIS is the best of both books. I knew there would be a little mystery going into this, but I really wasn't prepared for what I was getting into. Not only do we get to learn of Darcy and Lucien's romance, we get more of Ember and Trace.

She becomes his salvation...his absolute everything.

There are so many stories, twists and turns within this story. There's Lucien Black and Darcy MacBride's drama...there's Trace and Embers struggles, and the list goes on. But first and foremost, the story is of Darcy and Lucien.

Darcy MacBride is a sweet, intelligent and witty young woman. She's gutsy and strong and pretty much stands up for herself. She's sincere and genuine...and she's a survivor in a world in which she has no one. I loved her character.

Lucien Black is a domineering, arrogant, handsome brute of a man. He's extremely wealthy and powerful...commanding and controlling. I latched onto him from the first time he came into play, in Beautifully Damaged (Beautifully Damaged series). He's harboring extreme bitterness from a love lost 14 years ago - - and he's never forgotten this first love of his life. The girl who broke his heart. Darcy MacBride. And then one day out of the blue, she shows up at his office for an job interview......aaaahhh...payback!... revenge is sweet (he thinks).

This was a great story of two young teens who fall in love and then are forced to part ways. "She" never shows up for their rendezvous to run away together..."he" never searches for her to find out... "why"? He's so angry that he writes her off and becomes embittered. Fourteen years later they reconnect and the storm erupts. And even though so much time has passed and they're basically different people...the one constant is the feelings they had only have intensified and grown.

This is a wonderful story of letting anger, regrets and feelings of revenge go. A story of learning to pick up the pieces and be thankful for second chances. This story is full of political corruption, kidnapping and murder....blackmail and embezzlement. The downside is, it's so twisted and convoluted that at times it was hard (for me) to keep everyone's story straight....who's the father of whom...who's had an affair with whom, etc. I needed to write is all down to keep it straight...it got that confusing for me. And second: I didn't particularly care for the author jumping back and forth in time. It would go 14, 15 & 16 years into the past...then immediately jump back to current times.

Still, I loved the story of Darcy and Lucien (love that Lucien!!) and it was wonderful to follow up on Trace and Ember. Kudo's Ms. Fiore!

Beautifully Forgotton is the story of Lucien and Darcy

Beautifully Forgotton is the story of Lucien and Darcy. Lucien was dropped off at the same Orphanage as Trace at the age of two, he was raised by one of the nuns, Sister Anne and had come to think of her as his mother, he even took her last name, Black. When he was 16 a girl came in, Darcy MacBride, she was 14 and she changed his world.

When Lucien leaves the Orphanage he does some bad things to become the man he will be, but that's what he becomes, a man, a wealthy man.

What made Darcy choose not to follow Lucien. That is the question in Beautifully Forgotton. We learn that she was pregnant and a man came and convinced her that Lucien would have been better off without her. The questions were, who was the man, why did he come?

Read Beautifully Forgotton and find out what happened with Darcy's pregnancy, it's a good one. Also, Todd's back, find out how he's involved. You'll also be updated on Trace and Ember, because duh, besties.
